Respecting the Rights of People Who Use Drugs: A Call for Treatment Over Punishment.

People who use drugs (PWUD) have rights that should be respected and protected. Unfortunately, many practices exist that unjustly infringe upon these rights without any legal basis. This report examines the rights of PWUD in several Arab countries where drug use is criminalized by specific laws. It highlights the discrepancies between legal texts and their application, revealing numerous legal violations against PWUD during criminal proceedings. The report emphasizes that individuals who use drugs require treatment and specialized care rather than punitive measures.
