The Middle East and North Africa Harm Reduction Association MENAHRA has successfully concluded the Regional Consultation Meeting on TB, which took place in Beirut on August 7, 8 & 9, 2023. The consultation brought together a consortium of prominent stakeholders to discuss critical issues, advocate for harm reduction, and outline comprehensive national plans. Furthermore, the meeting focused on the UNHLM 2023 processes and procedures post-COVID-19 and their implications for TB services and harm reduction programs for KPs in the MENA region.

Organizations like MENAHRA are collaborating to raise awareness, break the silence, and take action against TB through social media platforms.

وزير الصحة يتفقد مستشفى مصر الجديدة للصحة النفسية لمتابعة آليات العمل ببرنامج خفض الضرر
|
تفقد الدكتور خالد عبدالغفار وزير الصحة والسكان، صباح اليوم الأحد، مستشفى مصر الجديدة للصحة النفسية وعلاج الإدمان، لمتابعة آلية تشغيل وتنفيذ برنامج خفض الضرر، الذي تم تشغيله تجريبيا في مارس 2023، وفقًا لضوابط وسياسات محددة، وذلك بمستشفيات (سوهاج، والمعمورة، والعباسية) للصحة النفسية.

The Social Development minister issues decisions proclaiming 4 charitable associations.

Muscat: Dr. Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, issued 4 ministerial decisions announcing four charitable organizations, which were: Ishraqa Charity Foundation, Al Yusr Charitable Foundation, Al Roya Al Ejabya (Positive Vision) Association and Omani Design Association. Ishraqa Charity Foundation aims to provide financial support to needy beneficiaries for the sake of developing Omani society in areas of education, support for children with disabilities and geriatric care.

On August 31st, the global community united to recognize the significance of Overdose International Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the overdose crisis and promoting effective interventions. In 2023, MENAHRA initiated a campaign titled "Help a Friend End Overdose, Apply Naloxone."

Background: Worldwide, HIV incidence, and mortality has decreased since 2010; however, in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean region, trends continue to increase. We reviewed the regional progress to understand determinants of this situation and inform strategies to accelerate the response.

Considerable disease burden is attributed to injecting drug use (IDU). This regional systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the prevalence of IDU and the characteristics of people who inject drugs in the 22 countries of the WHO Eastern Mediterranean region.
