Dear Partners, members and colleagues,
Reference to the previous announcement sent to you by MENAHRA and RANAA on the High Level Meeting (HLM) on HIV/AIDS, which will be organized in New York from 8-10 June 2016, where representatives of UN Member States will undertake a comprehensive review of the progress achieved in realizing the 2001 Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS in addition to the 2006 and 2011 Political Declarations on HIV/AIDS.
The 2016 HIV/AIDS HLM will adopt an outcome declaration to guide and monitor the HIV/AIDS response beyond 2015, towards achieving the commitment of ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030.

Civil society organizations like MENAHRA, RANAA, MENAROSA, MENANPUD, M-Coalition, AFEMENA, and others will be working together to ensure MENA community and civil society needs are heard and taken into account in the development of the outcome document. Leading up to the HLM meeting in June, a MENA civil society position paper will be developed, ensuring a maximum consultative process with CSOs towards the HLM and the upcoming Secretary General report.
This paper shall outline civil society requests and outlooks on issues that are critical to the region regarding the AIDS response as input to the HLM process (Click here to read the UNAIDS brochure on the HLM).

The survey has 10 questions and should not take more than 10 minutes.
The deadline for the submission is by 24th February.
The outcome of this survey, together with the results of the MENA civil society consultation on the 25th of February, will form the basis of the MENA civil society position paper on the HLM.
In addition, consultations with CSOs will start through a webinar, which will be led by RANAA and MENAHRA in coordination with the UNAIDS RST MENA, on the 25th of February providing time for reporting back before the end of February.

This is an opportunity for the MENA region to position itself at the High Level Meeting, to unify the voice of CSOs and community representatives.
