The Middle East and North Africa Harm Reduction Association (MENAHRA) is currently participating in the 24th International Harm Reduction Conference which is organized by Harm Reduction International (HRI). On October 18th, MENAHRA representatives attended the opening session of the conference taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia under the patronage of the Minister of Health in Malaysia.

The conference is being attended by numerous activists in the Harm Reduction field, as well as decision makers, exhibitors, international organizations, and CSOs from all over the globe.

As a pre-conference event, the MENAHRA Executive Director, Mr. Elie Aaraj, took part in the International Conference on Islam and HIV/AIDS 2015. During the meeting, Mr. Aaraj presented a session on the experiences of MENAHRA in working with religion and Harm Reduction in the MENA region.

On October 19th, MENAHRA will conduct a session during the conference on “Religious Leaders and Harm Reduction in MENA.” The session will take place at 16:30 in room Tun Sri Lanang 1.

Finally, MENAHRA would like to take this time to invite all conference participants to attend the MENAHRA side meeting on MENA representation at UNGASS 2016 in order to network and discuss possible areas for collaboration at the meeting.
