General Secretariat of the League of Arab States and UNAIDS to work toward an accelerated HIV response in the Arab Region

GENEVA, 20 May 2013 — The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) 20 May marking a new commitment to the HIV response in the Arab Region.

ان الإقبال على خدمات الحد من المخاطر بين النساء في منطقة الشرق الاوسط وشمال إفريقيا هومنخفص لذلك تقوم شبكة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا للحد من المخاطر (مينارة) ببحث عملي تحت عنوان "النساء اللواتي يتعاطين المخدرات عن طريق الحقن وطلب خدمات الحد من المخاطر" في سبعة بلدان من المنطقة تقدم خدمات ومشاريع حول الحد من المخاطر والبلدان هي لبنان، مصر، أفغانستان، باكستان، المغرب، تونس وفلسطين. وذلك للتدقيق والنظر في معدل الخدمات المقدمة للحد من هذه المخاطر بين النساء في تلك المناطق بالإضافة للتسهيلات التي تساعد للوصول إليها والتحديات المواجهة في هذا الموضوع .

Shereen El Feki is author of Sex And The Citadel: Intimate Life In A Changing Arab World. Half-Egyptian, half-Welsh, she is a writer, a broadcaster and an academic. Shereen El Feki is an expert on social change in the Arab region, particularly as it relates to sexual and reproductive life, and served as vice-chair of the Global Commission on HIV and the Law, representing the Arab region. She is a United Nations Global Expert, a project of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations.
