MENAHRA Participated in the 58th Session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs

The Middle East and North Africa Harm Reduction Association "MENAHRA" took part in the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) that was organized place from 9th to 17th March in Vienna, Austria. As part of its mission, MENAHRA’s participated in numerous sessions and side events in this Commission in order to raise the voice of civil society and to review the progress made, and the challenges encountered, since the 2009 Political Declaration and Plan of Action on the World Drug Problem. Hence, MENAHRA’s took part actively in a special Segment on the United Nations General Assembly Special Session (UNGASS) on drugs from 9th to 12th March, UNGASS is planned to be organized in 2016.

 

During the nine days of the Commission, 11 resolutions and one decision were drafted on matters such as protecting young people and children from the sale of illicit drugs and new psychoactive substances (NPS) over the Internet, and strengthening cooperation in identifying and blocking financial flows linked to drug trafficking.
