Harm reduction is a kind of a care that one says “I’m not to provide you a cure, I only wish to protect your life and want you to be safe.” At times this very proclamation itself becomes the biggest transformational element in the life of a person who is unknowingly involving himself into the danger that might take his life away. HARM REDUCTION ATTRIBUTABLE TO ALCOHOLISM

Harm reduction due to alcohol use approach is based on compassionate pregmatism instead of materialistic idealism. It recognizes minority of people always abused alcohol and always will, it doesn’t condone this behavior but seek to reduce its incidence and harm it causes.

Harm reduction strategies form part of comprehensive, integrated approach to alcohol use. Strategies include measures aimed at protecting users from immediate harm as fatalities and injuries as well as options including treatment designed to reduce alcohol use.

Asian regional network elected its chairperson and Executive committee members

Rebirth Society in cooperation with UN¬ODC and Iran Drug Control Headquarters at the Center for International Research and Education of the Ministry of Foreign Af¬fairs hosted the second regional consultative meeting towards networking of drug demand and harm reduction NGOs on 17th- 19th February 2014.
The meeting was attended by 40 representatives of NGOs and networks from Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Kazakh¬stan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Austria, Lebanon, and Lithuania.

The Arab region is comprised of 22 countries with a population of 367 million out of the 7 billion in the world which accounts for about five per cent of world population. According to the medium variant projection, the Arab Region will have 598 million inhabitants by 2050, an increase of two-thirds by 20101 . In addition, Arab countries have received more than 10% of the world’s migrants and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) estimates that there are more than 25 million migrants in the region. The Gulf region hosts the largest proportion of guest workers to indigenous populations in the world.
