Position Statement: World Hepatitis Day - July 28, 2016

On World Hepatitis Day - July 28, 2016, the Middle East and North Africa Harm Reduction Association (MENAHRA) continues its mission to support and collaborate with partners, public health workers, and the community to raise awareness on Hepatitis B and C.

MENAHRA also supports the first-ever Global Health Sector Strategy on Viral Hepatitis 2016 – 2021 which was adopted by the World Health Assembly in in May 2016. The new strategy includes a 30% reduction in new cases of Hepatitis B and C, and a 10% reduction in mortality by 2020.

Reduce Harm, Ensure Rights

The Middle East and North Africa Harm Reduction Association (MENAHRA) will be holding its 3rd Regional Conference, in Beirut- Lebanon from 23rd till the 25th of November 2016. The theme of this year’s conference is “Reduce Harm, Ensure Rights”. The program will include plenary and main sessions, concurrent sessions, as well as workshops, and dialogue space and poster presentations.

MENAHRA 3rd Regional Conference - #MENAHRA2016

The Middle East and North Africa Harm Reduction Association (MENAHRA) will be organizing the “3rd Regional Conference on Harm Reduction” #MENAHRA2016 from 23 to 25 November 2016 at Lancaster Hotel – Beirut, Lebanon.

MENAHRA is pleased to announce that Ms. Aimee Ghanem has been recruited as the Conference Coordinator for #MENAHRA2016. Ms. Ghanem has a Master Degree in Social Work from St Joseph University (USJ) of Beirut with a focus on research. In addition to an Advanced Diploma in “Monitoring and Evaluation: Project Management for the UN, Governments, and NGOs” at New York University.

Support. Don’t Punish! Campaign in MENA

On 26 June 2015, the “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking,” the Middle East and North Africa Harm Reduction Association (MENAHRA) continues in its determination to assert that drug use is not a crime to be dealt with through prosecution and imprisonment, but it is a health problem that requires follow-up and care.

MENAHRA is coordinating the Support. Don’t Punish! Campaign in Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, within this context we are pleased to release the following animated and still infographics in both English and Arabic.
