MENAHRA participating in the 58th Session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs

The Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) meets annually to consider and adopt a range of decisions and resolutions on international drug control. The participants to this meeting are from CSOs, stakeholders, policymakers and others.

This year the CND will take place from 9th to 17th March in Vienna, Austria. A special Segment on the United Nations General Assembly Special Session (UNGASS) on drugs that is planned to take place in 2016 will be held during this meeting from 9th to 12th March, while the CND proper will take place from 13th and 17th March.

The Middle East and North Africa Harm Reduction Association "MENAHRA" will take part in this meeting and will participate in many sessions and side events.

Monday 9th March

13:10-14:00: The 2016 UNGASS: Challenges and opportunities – Organized by the Governments of Mexico, the Netherlands and Uruguay, the International Drug Policy Consortium and the Transnational Institute. Conference Room BR-A.

Friday 13th March

14:20-15:10: On the road towards 2019 – The role of civil Society in fostering social innovation – Organized by UNODC civil Society team and the VNGOC. Room M7

NGO events

A civil society hearing will take place on Monday 9th March from 14:45 to 19:00 in Conference Room BR-A.

On Wednesday 11th March, there will also be an informal civil society dialogue with the UNODC Executive Director (10:00-10:50, Boardroom A) and with the INCB President (11:00-11:50, location TBC).
