Micheline Jreij

Micheline is a holder of a Master’s degree of Public Health from the Lebanese University, and both a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a University Diploma in Community Health from the Saint Joseph University in Lebanon.

She started her career in 1991, working at two hospitals consecutively. A few years later, she changed to the community health field for three years as a Registered Nurse responsible for a Health Centre (Terre Des Hommes, a Swiss foundation). She later moved to SIDC (Soins Infirmiers et Developpement Communautaire), working in the field of community health, until 2007 when she started working at MENAHRA in the harm reduction field.

In 2000, in addition to her work at SIDC, she pursued academic specialisation  and received a university diploma. In parallel, Micheline updated her nursing knowledge by working in the hospital field for two years in various departments (Dialysis, ICU, Cath-lab, ER). This wide experience allowed Micheline to develop and present a series of nursing protocols and modules. She also monitored a number of nursing student interns and helped them in their theses for BS or MS.

Her community health expertise led her to be a part of the team that developed a Training of Trainers (TOT) manual on diabetes at SIDC. She coordinated a number of projects targeting community and environmental health, in addition of being one of SIDC’s trainers on many topics: sexual education, childcare (babysitters training organised by YMCA in collaboration with SIDC and other parties). Micheline has developed the babysitting manual for YMCA, in addition to giving trainings on various health topics (health assessment, HIV, STIs, Drug Use, Harm Reduction, and other issues related to health and the environment) in different Lebanese districts, and was among the team of trainers on HIV for UN Care. She also participated as a co-researcher in a “national study on adherence to ARV,” supported by WHO-EMRO.

Since 2007, Micheline was appointed coordinator of the MENAHRA Network, and is a co-founder of MENAHRA. In 2011, she continued her education in the field of Public Health and she currently holds a Master’s degree in Public Health, in the field of education and promotion of health.
